As I recently transitioned out of my role as CEO of Women in Data, I’ve been reflecting on my journey and realized that I’ve never shared the entire story in one place—most importantly, I’ve never told it from my own perspective. So I started to reminisce, highlighting experiences before they faded and using the process as an opportunity to learn. Ultimately, I also wanted to share my full perspective. As CEO, I often didn’t discuss my personal journey because I felt I represented a whole community of women. This is my story of growing, leading, and simply being Women in Data. I hope it offers lessons learned and inspiration for others.
It may surprise you, but I didn’t initially want to start Women in Data. At the time, I was in the second year of my master’s program and working full-time. I had limited resources—especially time.
